It is hardly surprising that when Faida Hamdy wonders whether she is responsible for everything that happened after her moment of fame she is overwhelmed.  Mrs Hamdy was the council inspector who, five years ago today confiscated the vegetable stall of a street vendor in her dusty town in central Tunisia. In despair, that young man set himself on fire in a protest outside the council offices.

Some Muslims in U.S. irritated by Obama’s call for them to root out “extremism”

“‘We would never ask any other faith community to stand up and condemn acts of violence committed by people within their groups,’ said Palestinian-American activist Linda Sarsour, who has worked extensively with the Black Lives Matter movement and other minority groups. ‘The fact that this is only directed at the Muslim community is something that I personally can’t accept.'”

A New Global Police to Fight “Violent Extremism” in the U.S.?

The Obama administration plans to create a global police force that counters “violent extremism” in the United States and elsewhere.


The problem is that in Obama-speak “violent extremism” refers not only to jihadists wishing to harm Americans but also to conservatives and Tea Party activists. Just ask all the law-abiding right-of-center nonprofit groups targeted by Lois Lerner’s IRS during the Obama presidency.

Defense Department guide calls Founding Fathers ‘extremist’

A Department of Defense teaching guide meant to fight extremism advises students that rather than “dressing in sheets” modern-day radicals “will talk of individual liberties, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place,” and describes 18th-century American patriots seeking freedom from the British as belonging to “extremist ideologies.”

The guide comes from documents obtained by Judicial Watch and is authored by the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, a DoD-funded diversity training center.

Under a section titled “extremist ideologies,” the document states, “In U.S. history, there are many examples of extremist ideologies and movements. The colonists who sought to free themselves from British rule and the Confederate states who sought to secede from the Northern states are just two examples.”

Besides a brief reference to 9/11 and another to the Sudanese civil war, the guide makes no mention of Islamic extremism.

Sorry, Media, No White Tea Partiers Were Involved

Media Bias: There's palpable dismay at outlets such as MSNBC and Salon that the Boston Marathon bombers were radicalized young men from Chechnya and not angry white males from the vast right-wing conspiracy. Shortly after Monday's tragedy in Boston, David Sirota of Salon Magazine penned a piece titled "Let's hope the Boston Marathon bomber is a white American." His hopes were dashed when the suspects turned out to be Muslim brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, whose family origins are in Chechnya, the rebellious Russian region that is a breeding ground for terrorists.

Angry Kid, A Greenpeace Global Warming Video - "In a threatening tone, this angry young kid implies that man-made global warming theory is beyond dispute, a totally bogus assertion. Why does the environmental left so often resort to false claims?

Dr. Patrick Moore, a co-founder of Greenpeace, expressed the thoughts below after leaving the organization due to his belief that the modern environmental movement has become a bastion of far-left extremism. When the Soviet Union collapsed, fears of a nuclear holocaust diminished. Looking for a new cause, anti-war activists flooded into the environmental movement, bringing with them their strident pro-Marist, pro-Sandinista and anti-capitalist views of the world. Dr. Moore writes:

“Since its founding in the late 1960s, the modern environmental movement has created a vision that was international in scope and had room for people of all political persuasions.”

“The traditional sharp division between left and right was rendered meaningless by the common desire to protect our life support systems. Truth mattered, and science was respected for the knowledge it brought to the political debate.”

"Now, this broad based vision is challenged by a new philosophy of radical environmentalism. In the name of deep ecology, many environmentalists have taken a sharp turn to the ultra-left, ushering in a mood of extremism and intolerance."

"These factors have combined to contribute to a new variant of the environmental movement that is so extreme that many people, including myself, believe its agenda is a greater threat to the global environment than that posed by the mainstream of society."

How does Oregon rank for clean and green?

Senator Ted Ferrioli noticed that no one was asking this question. He said that Oregon ranks 43rd out of 50 states with 50 being the top ranking. He added that the seven states with higher rankings are small northeastern states that would all fit withing the boundaries of Oregon. This is a ranking that we should be very proud of. Apparently many of Oregon's environmental extremists (City of Corvallis and Benton County Commissioners included) don't agree for all the radical changes they propose. --bc Read More......

Variations on this theme have been reported throughout the mainstream media the past few days. ∴ This is a clever parsing of words as the most significant left-wing extremist groups are environmental and animal rights groups…which I suppose are guilty only of loving Mother Nature and polar bears just a little too much. ∴ In fact, in a nation-wide law enforcement survey conducted in 2008 by an academic research summit sponsored by the DHS, extreme environmental and animal rights groups ranked 2nd only to Islamic Jihadists as the greatest perceived threats at a national level. The TEA Party was a tremendous success all across America!

Locally, our newspaper said that about 350 persons turned out to demonstrate at the Corvallis post office and in front of the Benton County courthouse. However, a friend, at about 5:40 p.m., counted 375 in front of the courthouse, and many people had already demonstrated and left. The organizers are estimating that about 450 people attended.

And what a party it was! There were many, many wonderful signs demonstrating deep concern for our nation. My favorite was P.J. Hunter’s. It showed Barney Frank and Chris Dodd looking through a set of handcuffs and said, “the Chris and Barney show. Doing all they can to bring down America.” The spirit of enthusiasm was very high. Hundreds put their names on a contact list and asked that the organizers to bring everyone together again!

A couple of days before the Tea Parties, Barack Obama's Department of Homeland Security issued a "rightwing" threat assessment to warn of the "current economic and political climate fueling resurgence in radicalization and recruitment" for "rightwing extremism."

Who are these extremists? According to the report, adherents are primarily "hate-oriented" or "antigovernment" but also include "individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration," as well as veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Potential terrorists, all of us.

Predictably, the same mean-mouthed critics, who for the past 8 years have fed the gullible public hate for President Bush and criticism of everything Republican and a moral America, were on the editorial page of the G-T today, misstating fact and spewing venom toward those who speak out against infringement against our Constitution and back-breaking debt for our nation.

We are not cowed or deterred from our purpose to speak out against corruption and poor government actions. We will continue to band together and speak out for justice, liberty and a free America for ourselves and for our children.
