Charge: FEC Dems would ban Drudge, NYT, free media on election eve
The war between Republicans and Democrats on the politically splintered Federal Election Commission flared late Monday when a Republican commissioner and former chairman charged that the panel's Democrats want to regulate the press and end free election media.

For 2017 French presidentials, economic liberalism is in vogue
Lower taxes, fewer labor rules, less state: in a country famed for its attachment to a protective social model, economic liberalism is the surprise trend among aspirants for France's 2017 presidential election. For decades, the French center-right eschewed the free market policies of Margaret Thatcher, sticking to the tradition of a strong dirigiste state and a generous public health and welfare system funded by high taxes.

Venezuela Awakens From Its 17-Year Socialist Nightmare
Elections: Venezuela's voters delivered a sledgehammer blow to the country's ruling Chavista socialists Sunday, winning a likely supermajority in the National Assembly. It's a great awakening from a 17-year nightmare.
Given the past two decades of near-victories, electoral fraud, chicanery and fractious political opposition mistakes, many Venezuelans are still in disbelief at the scale of the victory in the nation's legislative elections, which have decisively handed one of Venezuela's leading governing bodies over to the democratic, pro-free-market opposition.

Obama campaign team working to defeat Netanyahu in Israeli election
During Barack Obama's recent State of the Union speech, he told America he had no more campaigns to run. But it seems that statement flies in the face of reports that an organization known as “One Voice” has brought in what has been called a "five-man Obama team" to defeat Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Included in that five-man team is Jeremy Bird, the national field director for Obama's 2012 campaign, Dr. Aaron Lerner, Director of the Independent Media Review and Analysis, said Monday, citing a report at Haaretz.

Jon Stewart Throttles Democrats For Hypocrisy on Campaign Spending
Jon Stewart attacked top liberals/Democrats on Monday's Daily Show for their blatant hypocrisy on the influence of money in politics. Stewart particularly mocked former Democratic senator and current Secretary of State John Kerry for his past lament that "the unending chase for money threatens to steal our democracy itself," while his party raises hundreds of millions of dollars for its campaigns.

Eurosceptic 'earthquake' rocks EU elections
UK Independence Party and French National Front both performed strongly. The
three big centrist blocs all lost seats, though still hold the majority.
The outcome means a greater say for those who want to cut back the EU's powers, or abolish it completely.
UK PM David Cameron said the public was "disillusioned" with the EU.

An End to Fair Elections
The Obama administration and New York's senior senator , Democrat Chuck Schumer, are conspiring to muzzle critics of the Democratic Party before this fall's midterm elections. Literally to outlaw free speech. They are rushing through a change in IRS regulations that would prevent Tea Party organizations and other not-for-profits called 501c4s from engaging in customary pre-election activities such as get-out-the vote drives, debates and forums, and brochures rating the candidates. The regulation would even prohibit these groups from criticizing incumbent office-holders within 60 days of a general election.

U.N. Poll Watchers Baffled U.S. Doesn't Require I.D. to Vote
By Katie Pavlich - Those of us who thought U.N election observers would be completely worthless or unhelpful today [11/6], were wrong. U.N. observers are expressing their surprise at how much trust Americans put into the election system without verification and cannot believe Voter I.D. isn't a national requirement to vote. Who Is Bolat Bersebayev and Why Is He Monitoring Our Elections?
Who is Bolat Bersebayev of Kazakhstan and why is he “monitoring” our polling places in Indianapolis, Indiana and Lansing Michigan? And who is Elchin Musaeyev of Azerbaijan, and why has he been tasked with monitoring the November 6 elections in Boston, Massachusetts, and Concord, New Hampshire?
Neither Kazakhstan nor Azerbaijan are notable as paragons of electoral virtue. Nor are they models of liberty, honesty, and decency. The facts show quite the opposite.
Kazakhstan is a brutal and corrupt dictatorship run by 72-year-old Nursultan Nazarbayev, a lifelong Communist who claims to have received 95.54 percent of the vote in the 2011 elections. No one believes the Kazakh election was anything other than a scripted event with a pre-set outcome. Put “Kazakhstan human rights” into your search engine and you’ll find abundant data from numerous sources confirming that efforts to exercise freedom of expression or freedom of assembly are met with baseball bats, bullets, and prison.

Obama prepping thousands of lawyers for election
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- President Barack Obama's campaign has
recruited a legion of lawyers to be on standby for this year's election as legal
disputes surrounding the voting process escalate.
Thousands of attorneys and support staffers have agreed to
aid in the effort, providing a mass of legal support that appears to be
unrivaled by Republicans or precedent. Obama's campaign says it is particularly
concerned about the implementation of new voter ID laws across the country, the
possibility of anti-fraud activists challenging legitimate voters and the
handling of voter registrations in the most competitive states.

Incumbency Shakers
More Americans approve of polygamy than of Congress. A February CBS News/New York Times poll found just 10 percent of respondents approved of Congress’s job performance. A recent poll from the same source found 11 percent of respondents thought polygamy “morally acceptable.” Other polls have found that the“U.S. going communist” has 11 percent support—meaning that concept has more fans than Congress has.

Mark Steyn: Politics trumps Left's empathy
Lest you doubt that we're headed for the most vicious election year in memory, consider the determined effort, within 10 minutes of his triumph in Iowa, to weirdify Rick Santorum. Discussing the surging senator on Fox News, Alan Colmes mused on some of the "crazy things" he's said and done.
Santorum has certainly said and done many crazy things, as have most members of America's political class, but the "crazy thing" Colmes chose to focus on was Santorum's "taking his two-hour-old baby when it died right after childbirth home," whereupon he "played with it." My National Review colleague Rich Lowry rightly slapped down Alan on air, and Colmes subsequently apologized, though not before Mrs. Santorum had been reduced to tears by his remarks. Undeterred, Eugene Robinson, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post columnist, doubled down on stupid and insisted that Deadbabygate demonstrated how Santorum is "not a little weird, he's really weird."

Finally, The Cognoscenti Ask: What Could We Be Thinking?
'The way I think about it," Barack Obama told a TV station in Orlando, "is, you know, this is a great, great country that had gotten a little soft."
He has a point. This is a great, great country that got so soft that 53% of electors voted for a ludicrously unqualified chief executive who would be regarded as a joke candidate in any serious nation.

NC Governor Proposes Ignoring Constitution and Suspending Congressional Elections for 2 Years
THINK PROGRESS/JUSTICE, 9/27/2011 - Article I Section II of the United States Constitution specifically states, “The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States.” But North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue (D) would rather we just skip over that section and suspend congressional elections for two years. Speaking at a Rotary Club event today, Perdue proposed holding off on elections for a while so lawmakers can focus on the economy — a suggestion that’s breathtaking just by virtue of how blatantly unconstitutional it is: Read more at Think Progress...
Gov. Perdue’s office responded to the 'hubbub' over her remarks on her Facebook page. Press Secretary Chris Mackey said, “Come on… Gov. Perdue was obviously using hyperbole to highlight what we can all agree is a serious problem: Washington politicians who focus on their own election instead of what’s best for the people they serve.” Read More......

Polls Close in Iraq as Insurgent Attacks Kill 36
FOX NEWS, 2/7/2010 - (AP) Iraqis defied insurgents who lobbed hand grenades at voters and bombed a polling station Sunday in an attempt to intimidate those taking part in elections that will determine whether their country can overcome deep sectarian divides as U.S. forces prepare to leave. ∴ The conclusion of the vote, however, did not spell an immediate end to political uncertainty. It could be days until results come in and with the fractured nature of Iraqi politics, it could take months to form a government. Read more at FOX...
