The Top Anti-Muslim Hate Crime Hoaxes of 2014

On Christmas morning, a man drove up to the Islamic Cultural Center in Fresno, threw rocks through the windows, and then entered the center and destroyed things inside. The local ABC outlet, KFSN, reported Friday that “Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says it is clear the incident is a hate crime which is why the FBI is also investigating this case.” But on Saturday, it turned out that the incident was not an “anti-Muslim hate crime” at all: the vandal was Asif Mohammad Khan, a Muslim. The destruction at the Islamic Cultural Center in Fresno was yet another in a long series of fake hate crimes designed to prop up the fiction that Muslims in the U.S. are routinely targets of discrimination and harassment.

No, the Message of the Last Election Was Not to “Get Stuff Done”

In the days since Election Day, and during the coming weeks and months, the message from the White House has been and will be put forth endlessly as accepted wisdom, the lie repeated often enough until it becomes truth: that Americans voted for Congress and the White House to “work together.” That what they want is government action to solve their problems.  This assertion, which is not just wrong but disprovable, serves the White House purpose of quieting conservatives who are willing to muck up business as usual in order to scuttle or at least make a vigorous point about President Obama’s unconstitutional effort to legislate immigration law from the West Wing, among other unlawful acts. Democrat Billionaire Tom Steyer May Have Blown $74 Million on Elections

Democrat hedge fund billionaire and global warming activist Tom Steyer spent $74 million on Tuesday's midterm elections, making him this election season's single-largest donor. Almost $67 million of Steyer's campaign war chest was spent on his super PAC, NextGen Climate Action, reports Forbes. However, as The Hill points out, Steyer's big money spending spree may garner him one of the hedge fund titan's most middling returns to date.

The “Republican Main Street Partnership” is Democrat Funded

Steve LaTourette, a former congressman and friend of John Boehner, runs the “Republican Main Street Partnership”. Note the word “Republican.”  As the left-wing Talking Points Memo reported a month ago, LaTourette and his Main Street Partnership have created an affiliated SuperPAC called “Defending Main Street PAC.” Along with the Chamber of Commerce and Republican Leaders, the Main Street Partnership wants to take out troublesome conservatives.

Republican doctors running for Congress amid ObamaCare rollout fiasco

Eleven Republican doctors are running for the Senate, hoping that voters will see their medical expertise as an asset amid the administration’s botched rollout of ObamaCare. “Doctors are in a very unique position to look at the financing of healthcare,” Rep. Paul Broun, a family physician running for the GOP nomination for Georgia’s open Senate seat, told The Hill. “We go into medicine for one reason, and one reason only: Because we care about people, we want the people who we serve to have a productive, happy, healthy life,” he added. “That’s the kind of policymaker we should have in place in dealing with healthcare policy.” Doctors running in Senate races from North Carolina to Oregon are all pitching voters on their experience in the medical field.

Tied to a promise

WASHINGTON — Four years ago, newly elected Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., was assigned to the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and quickly established himself as a vehement advocate for health care reform.

 

“Twenty years from now we’ll look back at this seminal opportunity and ask ourselves whether we rose to the challenge,” Merkley wrote in The Huffington Post in July 2009. “We’ll ask whether we stuck with the status quo: a health care system that drains wealth from our country and leaves millions of Americans behind. Or, did we answer the overwhelming call of the American people to reform our health care system by improving care, lowering costs and making health care work for all Americans?”

 

Four years later, Merkley is preparing to defend his Senate seat for the first time, while President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act looms as a potentially large campaign issue in the 2014 election.

Tea party radiologist to primary Kansas Republican for Senate seat

President Barack Obama’s second cousin has confirmed to The Daily Caller that he will challenge Republican Sen. Pat Roberts of Kansas in the 2014 primary.

Speculation that Dr. Milton Wolf, a diagnostic radiologist aligned with the tea party, would challenge the 77-year-old Roberts from the right has been rising in recent weeks, after Wolf sent emails to GOP activists inviting them to contact him. On Monday night, Wolf’s blog promised a major announcement Tuesday.

“I really am concerned about our country, the direction our country is going,” Wolf told The Daily Caller Monday. “The reality is that the career politicians of both parties have failed us. That much is clear and you look around and you think, ‘Somebody has gotta do something,’ and I keep looking for somebody to do something, and no one is. I realized at one point that I’m somebody. I gotta do something. If I want to call myself an American, if I want to think of myself as a patriot, I have to step up.”

Polls shows likely GOP senate takeover in 2014

A new Landmark/Rosetta Stone poll of the upcoming South Carolina senate primary, released last night, shows incumbent Senator Lindsey Graham to be facing a strong primary challenge in his bid for reelection next year. While Graham polls at 42 percent, that is well below the 50 percent needed to avoid a runoff. Should a runoff take place, he would run against the second place candidate, and if most of that other 58 percent unified behind the challenger, Graham could find himself being fired by Republican primary voters in his bid for another six-year term as South Carolina's Senior Senator. Aside from that seat, there are 33 other senate seats in contention during this election cycle. With the Democrats finding themselves defending many of these seats, including some in so-called “red” Republican-leaning states, the GOP has an excellent opportunity to regain majority control of the U. S. Senate after the 2014 elections.

EXCLUSIVE -- GOP POLL: SEN. ALEXANDER TRAILS GENERIC 'CONSERVATIVE' BY FOUR POINTS

A new poll of Republican voters in Tennessee shows Sen. Lamar Alexander trailing a generic "conservative" challenger by four points. The poll, obtained exclusively by Breitbart News, shows a "credible conservative candidate" leading Alexander 49-45%. While a serious opponent hasn't yet emerged to challenge Alexander, the poll shows how vulnerable he is in next year's August primary. The poll, from Triton Polling, interviewed over 680 Republican voters in the Volunteer State last week. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.7%.

Hardly a week goes by that we don’t read about the Republican Party’s “political problems” in the news media, which insist the GOP has become widely unpopular with voters. The Democrats, on the other hand, are portrayed as a unified party with rarely a disagreement among them. They are the dominant political force in the country by virtue of their victory in the 2012 presidential election, slight gains in the House and Senate, and, well, the people who need to be in charge of the nation’s government. But a closer examination of the political lay of the land reveals the far different story of the GOP’s growing strength in recent state elections, its much broader structural base in our political system, and the expectation that Republicans will make House and Senate gains in the midterm elections in 2014.

A new Conservative Intel Poll of 587 likely Arkansas voters finds that even though 40 percent of Arkansas voters don’t know enough about the freshman congressman to form an opinion about him, he still leads incumbent Sen. Mark Pryor, D, by a narrow two-point margin — 43 percent to 41 percent.
