Russia warns North Korea over threats of nuclear strike
Russia has warned North Korea that threats to deliver “preventive nuclear strikes” could create a legal basis for the use of military force against the country, suggesting that even Pyongyang’s few remaining friends are growing concerned about its increasingly confrontational stance.

Sen. Whitsett: Climate Alarmists Seek to Squash Dissent
Climate alarmists are losing the debate on man-caused global warming and climate change. The dire scenarios predicted by their computer modelling have failed to materialize. All of the glaring differences between their computer-modelled temperature predictions and empirically measured global temperature are becoming plain for everyone to see. [Snip] [T]he liberal progressive left has recently enlisted a desperate new tactic. Incredibly, they are now attempting to silence the scientific community through threats of sanctions, retaliation and criminal charges. Their efforts to censor dissent is becoming more frantic and strident.

Boeing threatens to move jobs out of US amid 'Ex-Im Bank' impasse
Despite turning a profit of more than $5 billion over the last year, Boeing plans to lay off up to 300 workers at its satellite assembly plant in El Segundo, Calif. -- and the company’s CEO Jim McNerney threatened to move many more jobs out of the United States. --The reason? Boeing officials are blaming the expired charter of the so-called Export-Import Bank. --[snip]-- Critics call the bank crony capitalism. And some, like Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, are echoing that accusation on the campaign trail.

Gresham bakery: example of why people mistrust the media
By Dan Lucas
Gallup reported a year ago that distrust in the media had hit a new high, with 60% saying they had little or no trust in newspapers, TV and radio when it came to reporting the news fully, accurately and fairly. ✧ A recent example in Oregon shows why there is that distrust. ✧ The example involves the Sweet Cakes by Melissa bakery in Gresham. In January the bakery said they wouldn’t bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple for a same-sex marriage, as it violated their religious beliefs. The bakery had previously sold a wedding cake to the same lesbian couple when the wedding cake wasn’t for a same-sex marriage, and the bakery does sell their cakes to gays and lesbians, just not for same-sex marriages. Find out what the press 'didn't report' at Oregon Catalyst... Read More......

Tell 'em we need proof before we'll own it
Democrats on Wednesday decried a spike in threats made to lawmakers who voted for the healthcare legislation and accused Republicans of fomenting violent behavior. [...] “This is now the face of the Republican Party; they have not taken responsibility,” said Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), the assistant to the Speaker, during an appearance on MSNBC. “They have, in fact, joined in this kind of activity. There is no denying the fact that they are stoking the flames here.” Read more fomenting and stoking at The Hill...

This chart, which appeared on the SarahPAC website and was linked to in a Facebook op-ed by Sarah Palin, 'targets' twenty House Democrats from districts that voted for John McCain in the 2008 presidential election. These Democrats ran as moderates, yet they voted for Obamacare. Of course, the point of the targeting is to vote them out in 2010 but the Left intimates that the points on the map are a call to violence in that the points look like the cross-hairs of a gun. Therefore, progressives tie Sarah Palin, a Republican, to advocating violence. This extends to conservatives and the Tea Party movement as well, since Palin has become a popular figure withing the ranks of tea partiers, who are primarily fiscal conservatives.
Moreover, the mainstream media has consistently linked Tea Party participants to right-wing radicalism, racism and a form of vigilantism. This is laughable, especially if the demeanor of the tea party attendees is held up to the radicals of the left and their real penchant for violence in their displays of civil disobedience, including threatening behavior and destruction of property. Remember President Obama's angry rhetoric regarding the Wall Street 'fat cats' and those who received multi-million dollar bonuses? His vitriol incited his followers to surround the homes of CEO's and bonus recipients, thus terrorizing them and their families.
Again, conservatives won't own the influx of violent 'threats' and actions, until the lefties can deliver proof. They can't. --bc Read More......

Letter: Advocates for M66 and 67 are playing games with priorities
CORVALLIS GAZETTE-TIMES/Opinion, 1/7/2009 by John H. Detweiler - The Oregon Legislature is playing "Washington Monument" with the voters. ∴ There is an old tale that circulates in federal budgeting circles that when the U.S. Park Service doesn't receive enough money from the Congress, the Park Service closes the Washington Monument and tells the tourists to go to Capital Hill and complain to their senators and representatives who will hopefully - from the Park Service point of view - give money to the Park Service. ∴ We keep hearing that if measures 66 and 67 do not pass, the Legislature will have to make some very painful adjustments to the budget in February. ∴ Had the most important items been funded by taxes in place and the least important items funded by the new taxes imposed with HB3406 and HB2649 - measures 66 and 67, there would be no adjustments to make. The least important items would just not be funded, and the Legislature wouldn't have a problem.

White House Puts UAW Ahead of Property Rights
TOWNHALL.COM, 5/7/09 by Michael Barone - Last Friday, the day after Chrysler filed for bankruptcy, I drove past the company's headquarters on I-75 in Auburn Hills, Mich. As I glanced at the pentagram logo, I felt myself tearing up a little bit. Anyone who grew up in the Detroit area, as I did, can't help but be sad to see a once great company fail.
But my sadness turned to anger later when I heard what bankruptcy lawyer Tom Lauria said on a WJR talk show that morning. "One of my clients," Lauria told host Frank Beckmann, "was directly threatened by the White House and in essence compelled to withdraw its opposition to the deal under threat that the full force of the White House press corps would destroy its reputation if it continued to fight."
