Poetic Juctice? Obama Was 1st US President To Vote To Filibuster A Supreme Court Nominee

Barack Obama and top senate Democrat Chuck Schumer are already engaging in hypocrisy of the highest order by calling on senate Republicans to move quickly to replace the vacancy left by the sudden death of Justice Antonin Scalia.

Again: Senate Democrats Mount Third Filibuster Against Bill to Pay Troops, Fund Military

Senate Democrats launched a third consecutive filibuster of the bipartisan defense appropriations bill yesterday, once again blocking consideration of legislation that would fund the United States military and pay members of our armed forces. Yes, it's okay to be thoroughly perplexed by this development. Remember, the ostensible reason that Democrats have engaged in this obstruction over recent months -- which also entailed filibustering the Veterans Affairs appropriations bill -- was to exploit the troops and veterans as leverage to force Republicans to agree to higher federal spending on unrelated matters.

Dershowitz: Undemocratic Tactics and Bigoted Arguments Have Stifled Iran Nuclear Deal Debate

When I was growing up, “filibuster” was a dirty word. It was a tactic used by bigoted southern Senators to prevent the enactment of any civil rights legislation. Urge Your Senators to Oppose Kagen's Supreme Court Confirmation

NRA (Via email), 8/1/2010 - "The nomination of Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court will be decided next week, when the Senate casts the final vote on her confirmation. ∴ The NRA has announced our strong opposition to Ms. Kagan, due to her long record of antagonism toward the Second Amendment. Based on that record, it is very likely that as a Supreme Court Justice, Kagan would join the Court's minority that just last month issued dissenting opinions claiming the Second Amendment does not guarantee a fundamental right to keep and bear arms. ∴ Elena Kagan represents the second time President Obama has nominated a person to the Court who aggressively opposes our right to keep and bear arms. Her confirmation would pose a direct threat to our rights for decades. ∴ Every vote in the Senate is crucial on this issue. Please take a few minutes and contact your Senators and respectfully ask them to filibuster and oppose Kagan's confirmation." Oregon's U.S. Senators: Read More......

Joe Lieberman: I'll block vote on Harry Reid's plan

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Tuesday that he’d back a GOP filibuster of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s health care reform bill. ∴ Lieberman, who caucuses with Democrats and is positioning himself as a fiscal hawk on the issue, said he opposes any health care bill that includes a government-run insurance program — even if it includes a provision allowing states to opt out of the program, as Reid has said the Senate bill will.
