Actor fights N.J. gun charge filed over prop used during filming
An actor who played a bit part in an independent gangster film is facing 10 years in state prison because he used a prop pellet gun without a state gun permit. Carlo Goias, whose stage name is Carlo Bellario, was charged under New Jersey's strict gun law. It requires permits for firearms, including the airsoft gun Goias used while filming a car chase scene.

Democrat Cory Booker wins US Senate election in New Jersey
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Newark Mayor Cory Booker won a special election Wednesday to represent New Jersey in the U.S. Senate, giving the rising Democratic star a bigger political stage after a race against conservative Steve Lonegan, a former small-town mayor and director of NJ Americans for Prosperity. Booker will complete the 15 months remaining on the term of Frank Lautenberg, who died in June at age 89. Read more at the Examiner...

A Perfect Storm in New Jersey’s Senate Race?
When New Jersey Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg died earlier this year,
there were few people who believed the Republicans had a chance of picking up
the seat. Pundits, conservatives and liberals alike believed Newark Mayor Cory
Booker would simply walk into the Senate as Lautenberg's successor. They didn't
count on former Bogota, N.J. Mayor Steve Lonegan who, according to the latest
Quinnipiac Poll, is making it a real race.
Lonegan has been stumping up and down the Garden State making the case for
his candidacy while Booker, who has apparently bought into all the pre-election
hype, has spent a significant portion of his time campaigning out of state in
places like California.
The Quinnipiac poll confirms what several private polls have already shown:
it's a 12 point race. Lonegan is down 41 percent to 53 percent among the 948
likely voters surveyed, meaning it's still not quite a horse race; but the
former businessman and long-time political activist has cut Booker's lead in
half with virtually no money and with almost no outside support.

Over 100K New Jersey Residents to Lose Their Affordable Health Plans under Obamacare
The latest casualty of Obamacare may be a low-cost New Jersey health-care policy. Though President Obama promised “if you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period,” that will not be the case for approximately 106,000 New Jersey residents whose plans will disappear under the law.
Known as the “basic and essential,” or B&E, health-care plans, the policy costs as little as a couple hundred dollars per month and is the choice of 71 percent of New Jersey residents on the individual insurance market. It provides minimum coverage for things such as doctor’s visits and procedures that don’t involve a hospital stay. According to the Newark Star-Ledger, B&E policy holders will, under Obamacare, “be left with may be a choice among pricey, pricier and priciest” plans.

Ocean County, New Jersey, Blasts UN Agenda 21 in Resolution
In yet another victory for liberty-minded activists, local lawmakers
in Ocean County, New Jersey, approved a stinging resolution last month blasting the United
Nations’ highly controversial Agenda
21, a radical plan to foist so-called “sustainable development” on
Americans by stealth. ✧ Communities across America are fighting back against the international
program and its tentacles in ever-increasing numbers. And in January,
even the Republican National Committee adopted a resolution strongly
condemning Agenda 21 and vowing to fight it. ✧Similarly, the Ocean County legislators — known in New Jersey as the “Board of Chosen Freeholders” — recognized that the
nature of the UN plan is “destructive and insidious,” using much of the
language from the RNC
statement. The county resolution also noted that approval or
implementation of Agenda 21 “would ultimately destroy the sovereignty of
the United States of America.” Read more at The New American...
