Clackamas County to Ditch ICLEI Membership While Portland Spends and Spends

An announcement of momentous import was made at the April 26th 2012 Board of County Commissioners meeting of Clackamas County, Oregon.  Commissioner Jamie Damon revealed that Clackamas County would not be renewing their membership in “ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability USA” at the next annual dues deadline.  Commissioner Jamie Damon stated, “This was brought up several business meetings ago, and I was unfamiliar with the organization, so I did some research and looked up the organization as well.  And we have decided to not continue as members of ICLEI.  So I just wanted to let you know that.” The remaining crowd in the room erupted in applause.  It was nearly at the end of the meeting around one hour fifty nine minutes (video on their web).  Read more at Red County/Colony Rabble... Ocean County, New Jersey, Blasts UN Agenda 21 in Resolution

In yet another victory for liberty-minded activists, local lawmakers in Ocean County, New Jersey, approved a stinging resolution last month blasting the United Nations’ highly controversial Agenda 21, a radical plan to foist so-called “sustainable development” on Americans by stealth. ✧ Communities across America are fighting back against the international program and its tentacles in ever-increasing numbers. And in January, even the Republican National Committee adopted a resolution strongly condemning Agenda 21 and vowing to fight it.  ✧Similarly, the Ocean County legislators — known in New Jersey as the “Board of Chosen Freeholders” — recognized that the nature of the UN plan is “destructive and insidious,” using much of the language from the RNC statement. The county resolution also noted that approval or implementation of Agenda 21 “would ultimately destroy the sovereignty of the United States of America.” Read more at The New American... County in Washington Ditches Sustainable Development

THE NEW AMERICAN - Activists in Clallam County, Washington are celebrating their government's decision to pull the plug on membership in the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), a worldwide association of more than 1,200 local governments dedicated to promoting the United Nations' sovereignty-eroding sustainable development program known as Agenda 21. The county will save $1,200 in annual membership dues, but ICLEI critics say they've salvaged much more than that. Read more at The New American... Read More......

TD: The Wrenching Transformation of America

(Hat tip: Facebook: Benton County Americans for Prosperity), April 22, 2009 Speech by Tom DeWeese - Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve come a long way to get here and I have such a short time to be with you. So, let’s just get everything out on the table right now, shall we? ∴ I believe the American people, and their every action, are being ruled, regulated, restricted, licensed, registered, directed, checked, inspected, measured, numbered, counted, rated, stamped, censured, authorized, admonished, refused, prevented, drilled, indoctrinated, monopolized, extorted, robbed, hoaxed, fined, harassed, disarmed, dishonored, fleeced, exploited, assessed, and taxed to the point of suffocation and desperation. ∴ America is drowning in a sea of rules and regulations, particularly under the guise of “saving the environment.”

Maryland County Abolishes Agenda 21

CAMPAIGN FOR LIBERTY, 2/23/2011 dljholt posts article by James Simpson (Hat tip: Steve) - "The November elections marked a sea change in the political landscape at every level of government nationwide. Right now, all eyes are focused on the Wisconsin standoff between Governor Scott Walker and the public employee unions. But under the radar, completely overlooked by the mass media, is the unprecedented move recently taken by newly-elected Carroll County, Maryland Commissioners Richard Rothschild, Robin Frazier, Haven Shoemaker, Dave Roush and Doug Howard, who abolished the County’s Office of Sustainability. They then voted unanimously to drop out of the UN’s International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI). They are the first governmental organization to do so."
