Ben Rhodes Isn't a Master Manipulator, the Media Wants to be Manipulated

The mediasphere is boiling after the New York Times ran a piece on Ben Rhodes, Obama's foreign policy guru, a failed writer who openly boasted about manipulating the media. It was full of quotes like this... “All these newspapers used to have foreign bureaus,” he said. “Now they don’t. They call us to explain to them what’s happening in Moscow and Cairo. Most of the outlets are reporting on world events from Washington. The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns. That’s a sea change. They literally know nothing.”

Charge: FEC Dems would ban Drudge, NYT, free media on election eve

The war between Republicans and Democrats on the politically splintered Federal Election Commission flared late Monday when a Republican commissioner and former chairman charged that the panel's Democrats want to regulate the press and end free election media.

Losing Influence: 6 Great DC Media Failures of 2015

We will never be fully rid of the DC Media. Like the garbage-in/manure-out maggots they are, the DC Media will always be a rancid part of the circle of political life. The political left is, if nothing else, relentless, and they will never fully give up the propaganda perch that is this corrupt institution.
That doesn’t mean that the righteous war to politically-exterminate them should be any less relentless, because it is already resulting in quantifiable benefits. The influence these serial-liars once enjoyed to sway public opinion and set the parameters of the national debate, is evaporating.

Carr: More dead Americans, cue killer sob stories

Meet the new tousle-haired terrorist, same as the old tousle-haired terrorist. It had to happen, right? Can the cover of Rolling Stone be far behind
for Mohammod Youssuf
Abdulazeez, the latest pot-smoking foreign-born Muslim terrorist to murder Americans in cold blood?
“This guy actually
reminds me of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev,” chirped CNN anchor Carol Costello. “Good-looking guy. Everybody liked him. He was popular in high school. Very well-educated. Both of them were wrestlers, and then something happened.”

Greenfield: Republicans Must Stop Letting the Media Manipulate Them

Groucho Marx used to ask contestants, “Have you stopped beating your wife?”
A number of Republican candidates showed that they still hadn’t mastered that one when the media came asking them about the Confederate flag in South Carolina.

Like so many chumps undone by Groucho, they thought that they were showing off how noble they were, when all they did was answer, “Yes, I did stop beating my wife. And I mostly oppose it now.”

Bloomberg To Launch Proprietary Anti-Gun Media Arm

The ceaseless torrent of anti-gun commentary from the New York Times, Washington Post, MSNBC, and other “mainstream” media outlets, apparently isn’t enough for billionaire firearm prohibitionist Michael Bloomberg. On May 8, Capital reported that the ex-mayor of New York is developing a “news operation” to work alongside his Everytown for Gun Safety organization in furtherance of his megalomaniacal gun control agenda.

Hillary Clinton Blames ‘Different Media’ For Dividing Country

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton complained that “different media” are dividing the country, making it impossible for people to even have a conversation with each other.  Clinton made her remarks yesterday in an interview with Re/Code’s Kara Swisher. She criticized America’s “partisan bunkers” for getting in the way of confronting tough issues like racism, sexism and homophobia.  “Nobody wants to associate with anybody who doesn’t agree with them politically,” she said. “You can’t have a conversation, people won’t listen to each other, they listen to different media, and those different media (outlets) tell different stories about the very same thing that you’re watching unfold in front of your eyes.”

Networks Silent about ‘Green’ Nature of Kitzhaber Corruption Scandal

It’s the job of a reporter to answer all the basic questions in a news story. Telling the who, what, when, where, why is foundational.
Yet, the broadcast network news media omitted key details from reports on the ethics scandal that led to Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber’s resignation. ABC, NBC and CBS admitted Kitzhaber and his live-in fiancée, Cylvia Hayes, are both under federal investigation because of “allegations” she “used their relationship to benefit her energy consulting business.”
Cylvia Hayes has a very specific kind of energy consultancy: a green one. But the only mention of “green,” in any of the network reports was Hayes’ admission she once took money from a man who wanted a green card marriage. By ignoring what Hayes does for a living the networks shielded the green movement they have so often promoted in broadcasts.

The Assassination of Scott Walker By The Coward Liberal Media

We all knew this was coming: liberal attacks on Gov. Scott Walker for not having a college degree. In 1990, Walker decided to drop out of Marquette University during the spring semester of his senior year - a decision that’s mystified the political left. But then there’s former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, who–as Dan wrote–basically questioned Walker’s intelligence: "This is a particular problem for Scott Walker which has not been an issue yet, but it will. Scott Walker, were he to become president, would be the first president in many generations who did not have a college degree. So the issue here is not just the issue of dancing around the question of evolution for political reasons, the issue is, how well educated is this guy?"
This is emblematic of the politics of condescension and elitism that’s fraught within American liberalism; that one is not qualified for any public office lest he be a college graduate (preferably from an elite school) and has acquired a lexicon that shocks the masses.

Hate Speech Leads to Hate Crimes

America and the West are subjected nonstop to a barrage of hate speech from the intelligentsia. Hate speech leads to hate crimes, here as everywhere. Few people have faced up to the extent of the hate crimes and hate speech against the West. The murder of the two New York City policemen Saturday is only the tip of the iceberg.  Literally thousands of inciters have propagated a dishonest storyline of widespread police violence against blacks. And what we’ve seen in recent months is only the current instance in a long history of incitement against the West. A view of the West as enemy is cultivated in universities across the country as the cutting edge of moral thinking, with full rein given to a very un-academic manner of speech, replete with the colorful language of vilification. From these heights, the same attitudes inevitably seep into other venues, including textbooks for much younger students.

Forest Service says media needs photography permit in wilderness areas

The U.S. Forest Service has tightened restrictions on media coverage in vast swaths of the country's wild lands, requiring reporters to pay for a permit and get permission before shooting a photo or video in federally designated wilderness areas.  Under rules being finalized in November, a reporter who met a biologist, wildlife advocate or whistleblower alleging neglect in any of the nation's 100 million acres of wilderness would first need special approval to shoot photos or videos even on an iPhone.  Permits cost up to $1,500, says Forest Service spokesman Larry Chambers, and reporters who don't get a permit could face fines up to $1,000.

The Enigma of Barack Obama

Put me down in the Roger Simon camp on this one: without wandering into Birther territory or the inconclusive musings of Jerome Corsi… who the heck is this guy, really?

To put it bluntly: nobody knows nothin’ about the president of the United States, aka the leader of the free world. And what little we do know is highly uninformative and often contradictory.

In a world where every phone call, email, text message, Tweet, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook post, YouTube, Vimeo, LinkedIn link, Google + post, blog post, semaphore, morse code, Braille, and probably burp has been recorded digitally for posterity and beyond, nobody knows what Barack Obama even got in freshman English. (Well, maybe the NSA does, but they’re not telling.)

Does this matter?

Gresham bakery: example of why people mistrust the media

By Dan Lucas
Gallup reported a year ago that distrust in the media had hit a new high, with 60% saying they had little or no trust in newspapers, TV and radio when it came to reporting the news fully, accurately and fairly. ✧ A recent example in Oregon shows why there is that distrust. ✧ The example involves the Sweet Cakes by Melissa bakery in Gresham. In January the bakery said they wouldn’t bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple for a same-sex marriage, as it violated their religious beliefs. The bakery had previously sold a wedding cake to the same lesbian couple when the wedding cake wasn’t for a same-sex marriage, and the bakery does sell their cakes to gays and lesbians, just not for same-sex marriages. Find out what the press 'didn't report' at Oregon Catalyst... Read More......

Top Ten Obamacare Horror Stories the Media are Covering Up

John Nolte at Breitbart News writes, "Because the mainstream media lobbied every bit as hard as Obama to win passage of ObamaCare, they are every bit as invested in doing whatever is necessary to see that it is perceived as a success. Unfortunately for Americans who expect truth from their media, this means the media are having to manufacture a false reality that says ObamaCare is, to steal a phrase, 'doing fine.' ✧ In order to manufacture this phony reality, the media must further sell their blackened soul by violating one of their most cherished principals: reporting on how government policy hits America's weakest the hardest. It's just a fact that the worst fallout of ObamaCare is already landing hard on the working class, who are losing work hours, jobs, and their insurance." Read more at Breitbart... Read More......

Vanity Fair: Obama and the Press

VANITY FAIR, July 2009, The Power and the Story by Michael Wolff
The Obamas may have the smartest, most finely calibrated press operation in White House history, parceling out scoops (The New York Times), partisan talking points (the Huffington Post), and First Family tidbits (the celebrity mags) to a desperate media. Just don’t ask them to admit it.
An then ther is this...
Even before formally taking possession of the White House and pressroom, the team began to talk about keeping Obama’s much vaunted peer-to-peer network of millions of small contributors in place [Obama's Blackberry], of making it a central outlet of its communications strategy. The implication seemed clear: newspapers and networks had a swiftly declining market, while the Obama administration had created an audience that it could reach through its own distribution prowess and that hung on its every word.

Power Line: GOP RIP?

POWER LINE, 5/13/2009 by John Hindraker - Many on the left (e.g., Time magazine) are eager to write the Republican Party's obituary. It certainly seems that the tide has been running strongly against the GOP lately--or, at least, it was until last November. Actually, since then our news media have studiously averted their eyes from the main change in voters' perceptions of the parties--a growing sense of dismay at the havoc Democrats are wreaking in Washington.

Future of journalism debated in US Senate

BREITBART.COM, 5/6/09 - "Old Media squared off against New Media as a US Senate panel examined the future of journalism in the digital age. ∴ The demise of the newspaper industry took center stage as a Texas newspaper publisher, a former Baltimore Sun reporter, a top executive from Google and the founder of The Huffington Post website traded jabs in a Senate hearing room on Wednesday." Obama and his Media: The Real U.S. Terrorist (email)

From a Temple, TX CPA: ARE YOU PROPERLY TERRORIZED BY THE MEDIA AND WHITE HOUSE YET?

Now, let me get this straight. "Several hundred" people get the flu in Mexico and "150 Mexican nationals die," now lowered to seven.

A few Americans get the flu, 91 people at last count, but no one dies. A Mexican toddler did die in Houston, is referenced as an American, but had undisclosed "multiple underlying health issues."

Even before this number reportedly died, US Pravda, otherwise known as CNN, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, etc, hyped the "flu pandemic" story up to astronomical levels.

Here we go again!

The sky is falling, the sky is falling!

BE SCARED! TERROR, TERROR! CRISIS! BE AFRAID! ...

Does anyone buy this line, or these terrorize-the-public lines, anymore?

We have a pandemic alright, a leftist media and white house "fear pandemic."

Are you aware that tens of thousands of U.S. citizens die each year from plain old everyday influenza? 36,950 on average per year, every year!

Excuse me a minute while I change my surgical particle mask and guzzle some more Tamiflu.

What happened to the Hope and Change and "the end of the politics of fear?"

If we keep having nonstop crises, there's really no point in living. I feel like I'm cast in a never-ending white house and media directed soap opera, and I might as well end it all now.

But, there another motive behind all of this chicanery.

As a result of each "crisis" immediate action must be taken.

After 9-11 we received the Patriot Act that allows warrantless government surveillance of not only foreigners but American citizens as well. Who needs the 4th Amendment anyway? We also received the Department of Homeland Security, another federal police force. DHS ignores millions of illegals and terrorists openly operating in the U.S. while labeling veterans and conservatives as "terrorists" or "right wing extremists."

Exactly when did being a Republican become extreme anyway?

Later, we had the "credit crisis" and we got TARP, or is that TRAP, or CRAP?

As a result, the Federal Reserve, a private corporation which is as federal as Federal Express, leaves U.S. taxpayers on the hook for TRILLIONS of dollars without having to explain (video) where the money went.

That number is now over 12.8 TRILLION DOLLARS.

The Federal Reserve has great power over the value of our money and the direction of our economy and yet does not have to disclose its operations to the American people.

In fact, the Federal Reserve apparently doesn't have to answer (video) to Congress, the President or anyone.

There is currently pending in Congress H.B 1207 calling for an audit of the Federal Reserve, something that has never occurred since its inception in 1913.

The bill currently has 100 co-sponsors and may very well pass. I'm certain the foreign banker owners don't want this to happen. Cockroaches do tend to flee when the light switch is turned on!

Recently, the "stimulus" bill, another whopping $787 billion, passed because of the dire emergency.

One thousand pages of eye-popping pork that not one congressman even read.

The bill had to be passed right away or we would fall off the edge of the earth, even though "The One" didn't sign the legislation until 4 days after returning from his vacation.

Then, there was the uproar over the AIG bonuses.

The public was instructed to focus on $165 million in bonuses to camouflage the 10s of billions that were shipped to foreign banks.

Remember, they're the Fed, they transfer the money and you pay the amount back, the amount lent, with interest of course. Move along there's nothing to see here.

Does anyone else see a pattern here? Everytime there is another "crisis" more of our rights are confiscated and we get the short end of the stick.

Maybe it's time that "we the people" start issuing terrorist alerts, with a focus on the domestic variety.

Apparently, we're supposed to be frightened out of our minds because of the flu and the media is now preparing the public for the potential of mandatory flu innoculations.

TIME magazine is also soothing the public for this possibility. While discussing the mandatory flu vaccination debacle during President Ford's administration, the TIME article does have an interesting quote by Howard Markel, director of the Center for the History of Medicine at the University of Michigan.

Markel states, "the political climate in the U.S. is much less combustible today than in the post-Watergate era, when Ford faced a skeptical public. Even so," he says, "citizens still need to trust that the government is working for the greater good."

What planet is this guy from?

Now, the federal government has chosen Baxter International to develop a vaccine for the swine flu. Never heard of Baxter?

Why this is the same company that gave the world HIV infected treatments in the 1980s and more recently sent live avian flu in vaccinations to 18 European countries.

I feel safer already.

So what are we supposed to ignore while focusing on this latest "crisis?"

Does the government not want you to focus on the dismal quarterly economic data?

The continued rising unemployment?

This week's vote on the preposterous $3.5 trillion budget?

Forget about the concerns over the unbridled Federal Reserve?

Oh, I forgot. I'm not supposed to think. I'm supposed to be terrified.

Can I have another sip of that Kool-Aid?

Drew

Chavez Calls Obama 'A Poor Ignoramus'

NEWSBUSTERS, 3/22/2009 by Noel Sheppard - NewsBusters asks, "How Will Media Report Chavez Calling Obama 'A Poor Ignoramus'?" ∴ Barack Obama is hailed by sycophantic media members as one of the brightest men to ever be President, and was supposed to improve America's standing around the world. ∴ Yet, on Sunday, Venezuela's Hugo Chavez called Obama "a poor ignoramus" who "should read and study a little to understand reality." ∴ Given how impressed news members are with our new President, and how they regularly disparaged the intellectual capacity of George W. Bush, it is going to be very interesting to see how Chavez's comments get covered in the coming days. ∴ Here's how Reuters reported this story... Read More......
