There Are Now More Bureaucrats With Guns Than U.S. Marines
There are now more non-military government employees who carry guns than there are U.S. Marines, according to a new report.Open the Books, a taxpayer watchdog group, released a study Wednesday that finds domestic government agencies continue to grow their stockpiles of military-style weapons, as Democrats sat on the House floor calling for more restrictions on what guns American citizens can buy.

People Have A 'Fundamental Right' To Own Assault Weapons, Court Rules
In a major victory for gun rights advocates, a federal appeals court on Thursday sided with a broad coalition of gun owners, businesses and organizations that challenged the constitutionality of a Maryland ban on assault weapons and other laws aimed at curbing gun violence. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit said the state's prohibition on what the court called "the vast majority of semi-automatic rifles commonly kept by several million American citizens" amounted to a violation of their rights under the Constitution.

Cash flowing into Nevada's battle over gun background check measure
The gun lobby is often portrayed as a goliath, but in the fight in Nevada over the Background Check Initiative, it might be the underdog. That is, if the campaign to extend background check requirements to private-party gun sales and transfers unfolds like it did in 2014 for a similar measure in Washington state, where the gun lobby was outspent several times over.

Rest easy America: hundreds of DHS badges, guns, phones go missing
If you were up to no good and looking to cause a bit of mayhem – particularly at the border – think of some of the tools you might like to get hold of. Explosives and weapons are a given, natch. But what if you could get your hands on some honest to goodness credentials making it look like you were a federal law enforcement official? Well start checking on E-bay because there may be some out there.

The Guardian equates Suicide to Self Defense in SHOT Show Coverage
The left loves to use false comparisons of unrelated numbers to make bad arguments. In a recent article about the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in the Guardian, a far-left British newspaper, the reporters start with an off the cuff remark from an economics professor. From the guardian.com: "People are buying guns as part of the American dream of freedom and liberty," said Brauer, who is based at the Hull College of Business at Augusta University. "And also, the hope and the dream of being able to use guns in self-defence."

Houston Police Vow to Go After Anti-Gun Groups Calling 911 on Open Carriers in Texas
Texas will soon join the other 45 US states that allow open carry and anti-gun groups are not happy about it. At least one anti-gun group is attempting to make life miserable for all gun owners who choose to openly and legally carry their firearms by calling 911 and making false claims. The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) is using social media to urge people to call 911 any time they see someone openly carrying a firearm.

Maryland scraps gun "fingerprint" database after 15 failed years
Millions of dollars later, Maryland has officially decided that its 15-year effort to store and catalog the "fingerprints" of thousands of handguns was a failure.
Since 2000, the state required that gun manufacturers fire every handgun to be sold here and send the spent bullet casing to authorities. The idea was to build a database of "ballistic fingerprints" to help solve future crimes.

Democrats’ plan to put ATF on steroids
The highly influential Center for American Progress, which has deep ties to the Obama administration and Hillary Clinton, recently released an extensive report calling for the nation's lead agency on gun regulation to be merged into the FBI.
The generalities of the center’s 182-page report were widely covered by media upon its release last May. However, the details in the report were largely unmentioned, including by conservative media agencies.

Islamic invasion pulls trigger: Europe now scrambles for guns
Austrians are arming themselves at record rates in an effort to defend their households against feared attacks from Muslim invaders. Tens of thousands of Muslim “refugees” have poured into Austria from Hungary and Slovenia in recent months on their way to Germany and Sweden, two wealthy European countries that have laid out the welcome mat for migrants. More than a million will end up in Germany alone by the end of this year, according to estimates from the German government.

Left-Right Divide on Gun Control:The Left asks,“Does it feel good?” The Right asks,“Does it do good?
Assuming that there are good and bad people on both the right and the left and that everyone is horrified by mass shootings, how is one to explain the great divide between the Right and the Left on the gun issue as it relates to mass murders, such as the one recently committed at Umpqua Community College? Why does the Left focus on more gun-control laws, and why doesn’t the Right? One reason the Right doesn’t focus on gun-control laws is quintessentially American. Many Americans believe that it is their right — and even their duty — to own guns for self-protection. Unique among major democratic and industrialized nations, Americans have traditionally believed in relying on the state as little as possible.

Panama Lifts Ban on Gun Imports amid Rising Crime Wave
As Panama deals with increases in crime rates, forged gun permits, and rising gang activity, the government is set to lift the ban on firearm imports, in an effort to promote personal safety.
Public Safety Minister Rodolfo Aguilera said the country will follow in the footsteps of the United States and Switzerland, where the right to bear arms is believed to lead to fewer homicides.

Poll: more Americans see guns as part of the solution, not the problem
As with every such tragedy, the recent shooting in a Lafayette, Louisiana theater has brought yet another round of calls for increased gun control measures from liberal politicians. (And, sadly, a few Republicans as well.) Gun rights advocates have had to once again trudge out in front of the cameras and explain why this is precisely the wrong sort of thinking when dealing with the problems of madmen and violence.

Prominent Dem on MSNBC reveals the stupidity of gun grabbers
President Obama couldn’t resist exploiting the deaths in Charleston to advance the gun control agenda, and he has a lot of company in the Democratic Party, which is desperate to energize its voters as the 2016 election looms with a very unappealing presumptive nominee at the top of the ticket. Make no mistake, they are going to emotional, not rational appeals.
The mentality that sees guns, not humans, as the problem leads to a number of absurdities.

Oregon Gun Owners Plan Noncompliance Rally
Now that Oregon’s SB 941 has been signed by the Governor, gun rights activists have banded together and are organizing a facebook event page for a rally entitled “SB 941 I Will Not Comply Demonstration“. The rally is set for May 30th, at the Capitol building in Salem, and will feature a host of speakers. SB 941 is the “universal background check” bill, meaning that if you want to trade guns with your next door neighbor whom you’ve known for 10 years, you must both submit yourselves to background checks and get permission from the state police before the exchange can take place.

VA Sends Veterans’ Medical Info To FBI To Get Their Guns Taken Away
Documents obtained by The Daily Caller and interviews with American veterans reveal a shocking government program: The Department of Veterans Affairs is disarming America’s veterans by getting them placed on the FBI’s criminal background-check list.
The VA sends veterans’ personal medical and financial information directly to the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, which can seize their guns in home raids.
Veterans deemed mentally incompetent or financially incapable are finally speaking out about the errors in the system and the fearful harassment they and their families face from the federal government. And it all starts when vets go to the VA to get medical help.

New Oregon gun law will accomplish nothing (OPINION)
It's hard to tell what Americans love more -- guns or gun laws. We have plenty of both. That should say something about how ineffective gun laws are. Nevertheless, we will soon have yet another gun law here in Oregon. The latest one, Senate Bill 941, will supposedly close a loophole in private gun sales. If you're a private seller, you and the buyer will have to go to a licensed gun dealer and have the dealer run a background check to make sure the buyer isn't a felon or mentally ill.

Colorado Senate Votes to Repeal Expanded Background Checks
On March 25, the Colorado Senate voted to repeal the expanded background checks that Democrats rammed through as part of the draconian gun control package that was implemented on July 1, 2013.
Democrats justified the passage of expanded background checks by pointing to “mass shootings” at the Aurora movie theater and Sandy Hook Elementary School. In both instances, the lawmakers failed to note that federal background checks were already in place and failed to stop either gunman.

Oregon Universal Background Check Bill Hearing Schedule for April Fools Day
Well, Oregonians, are you ready to lose your ability to privately transfer guns? A senate bill under consideration would require you to appear before a gun dealer and go through a background check. How fun would that be? It probably won’t be cheap and it certainly won’t be private. Here’s an email blast we received from the Oregon Firearms Federation:

Bureaucrats With Berettas
It’s a morning Kenneth Wright will never forget: 15 armed agents break in his front door and grab him by the neck, still in the boxer shorts he slept in. For six hours, a handcuffed Wright sat in a cruiser parked outside with his three children, ages 3, 7, and 11, while agents searched his house. “They put me in handcuffs in that hot patrol car for six hours, traumatizing my kids,” the Stockton, Calif., resident told a local news outlet at the time. Drugs? Weapons? Domestic violence? No. As Wright later found out, his gun-toting visitors were from the Department of Education’s Office of Inspector General (OIG). What the neighbors mistook as a S.W.A.T. team raid was really the execution of a search warrant in a student loan fraud case involving Wright’s wife, who wasn’t even there at the time.

America’s Provocateurs Are at the Mercy of the Barbarians
To the foreign or uninitiated visitor, it must appear somewhat peculiar that the most prominent, recognizable, and provocative public figures in all of these United States spend the majority of their time in cities that are indifferent toward their security. Taken together, Washington, D.C., New York City, and Los Angeles host almost all of the more controversial media personalities in America; and, taken together, these cities have some of the worst self-defense laws in the country. Had Charlie Hebdo been an American publication, it would most likely have been located in Brooklyn or in Silver Lake or in Columbia Heights — positioned, in other words, in precisely the sort of place in which attacks on its employees would have been most likely to succeed. This, as the French might say, is “absurde.”
