Top Obamacare health insurance plan in Onondaga County going bust
A company that has enrolled more Onondaga County residents in private Obamacare health plans than any other insurer is going out of business.
The state has ordered Health Republic of New York to stop writing new insurance policies because regulators expect the company to become financially insolvent.
Existing individual Health Republic policies will remain in effect through Dec. 31, according to the state Department of Financial Services. Health Republic customers will be able to sign up with another insurer for 2016 coverage when open enrollment begins Nov. 1.

Data discrepancies in Obamacare sign-ups impact more than 2 million
WASHINGTON (AP) -- More than 2 million people who got health insurance under President Barack Obama's law have data discrepancies that could jeopardize coverage for some, a government document shows. NRO: Oregon’s Verdict on Medicaid
NATIONAL REVIEW, 7/7/2011 by Michael F. Cannon - Oregon’s Verdict on Medicaid The facts come out.
- Americans may be surprised to learn that little solid evidence exists to support the claim that expanding health insurance will improve the health and financial security of the uninsured; that some research calls into question whether broad coverage expansions improve health at all; and that some research even suggests that the overall benefits of such expansions may not be worth the cost. We lack definitive evidence because no developed nation has ever conducted a study that randomly assigns people to receive health insurance in order to control for other factors that might affect these outcomes. Until now. Read more at NRO...

OR House approves creation of health insurance exchange, coverage for all
THE OREGONIAN, 06/07/2011 posted by Bill Graves
- The Oregon House today gave final passage to a bill that will create a government-regulated health insurance marketplace called an exchange, extending coverage to nearly all residents. Senate Bill 99, which creates the Oregon Health Insurance Exchange as a public corporation governed by a nine-member board, passed easily by a 48-to-12 vote this afternoon. The bill is on its way to the desk of Gov. John Kitzhaber, a supporter, for his signature. Rep. Jim Thompson, R-Dallas, co-chair of the House Health Care Committee, introduced the bill during a 30-minute debate and noted that the federal government will create a health insurance exchange for Oregon if the state doesn't build its own.
