Obama to make Vets pay for their own medical treatment

YAHOO NEWS, 3/16/2009 - The President says he will save $540 million by forcing wounded vets' private insurance to reimburse the government. Vets call this move “unconscionable”

WASHINGTON, 3/16,2009 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The leader of the nation’s largest veterans organization says he is “deeply disappointed and concerned” after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. Civil Rights

In 1857, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the Dred Scott decision by a 7-2 vote, that black people were not “legal persons” and were property of the slave owners who were granted basic constitutional “rights” to own those slaves. Abolitionists were told if they disagreed with slavery, they didn’t have to “own a slave” and not to 'impose their morality on slave owners'.

Similarly, in 1973, by a 7-2 decision, the Supreme Court ruled in Roe v. Wade that unborn humans were not “legal persons” and that they were, in essence, property of the owner (the mother) who had the constitutional right to kill her unborn baby.
