Pentagon chief Carter not offering new arms deal to Israel

In the face of Israeli outrage over the Iran nuclear accord, the Pentagon is moving quickly to reinforce arguably the strongest part of the U.S.-Israeli relationship: military cooperation.

But officials say Washington has no plans to offer new weaponry as compensation for the Iran deal.

The Saudi Blockade

Is there a blockade around Yemen? Who is blockading whom? Where will it lead? -- Helene Cooper of the New York Times says the administration is claiming credit for turning back a flotilla of Iranian ships which may have been carrying arms for Tehran-backed rebels. “Pentagon officials on Friday credited the deployment of an American aircraft carrier group in waters off the coast of Yemen for a decision by Iran to turn back a naval convoy suspected of carrying weapons bound for Shiite rebels.” From this one might get the impression it is the Obama administration that is preventing the Iranians from using the sea to resupply its allies. ✧ But a closer reading of the story suggests that USN’s true purpose was to keep the Iranians from challenging the Saudi blockade, which was already in place.

US admiral: Iran has enough material to make nuclear bomb

BEEITBART NEWS, 3/1/2009 - The United States believes Iran has enough fissile material to build a nuclear bomb, top military officer Admiral Mike Mullen said, marking the first time Washington has made such an assessment. --"We think they do, quite frankly," Mullen told CNN when asked if Iran had enough nuclear material to manufacture an atomic bomb. --"And Iran having a nuclear weapon, I've believed for a long time, is a very, very bad outcome for the region and for the world," said Mullen, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff. Shameful Stupidity

Global Analysis, Weekly Column Published 2/6/09 by J.R. Nyquist
"We no longer have a universal ideal!” exclaimed Fyodor Dostoevsky in the nineteenth century. Everything is flabby, vapid, all people are vapid! We all … are empty!” According to Dostoevsky, civilization had become an “ant heap” and Western religion was “fast approaching atheism.” A few years later a German philologist named Friedrich Nietzsche foresaw the advent of what he called “European nihilism,” which signified the future collapse of Christianity and the rise of totalitarian states, destructive wars, and a new barbarism. “Everything will be mob rule,” Nietzsche predicted. England only had another fifty years as a great power. The United States would “seemingly” become a great power, but would be “quickly consumed.” The country that would emerge on top, said Nietzsche, was Russia.

If a man of great insight and intuition, like Dostoevsky, thought our great grandparents were “flabby” and “vapid,” what would he say about us?" Read more at Global Analysis... Read More......

Bearing arms for freedom

Corvallis Gazette-Times LETTERS, December 7, 2008

Bearing arms for freedom by Jim Farmer
The classic liberal response by Larry Padman of Corvallis (Nov. 30) to our rights was to turn the Second Amendment into a hunting or personal protection right. Larry, the Second Amendment isn’t about hunting or personal protection, it is about the people having the right to bear arms in defense of liberty. It is the teeth to all our rights granted by God and enumerated by the Constitution. [Emphasis added]

Governments have a way of trampling our liberties especially socialist governments. We only have to look at India to see how the people were reduced to throwing rocks at machine-gun-wielding terrorist to understand how the rights of the people were taken away. I suggest, Larry that you practice with a pocket full of rocks after the new president steps into office.

The reasons to fear the new administration are obvious if you remember history. Most of the new appointees are Clinton people who have a record of extremist positions against gun owners. It isn’t the “change” promised, but then you can’t trust a politicion and that is why we have a Constitution, a lawful document that gives us the right to real “change” should our rights be trampled.

We are going through very bad times right now and none of us know where this will lead us. Both parties in government have shown us they can’t be trusted with our money or our liberties. We would be fools to give up our ability to effect real change should our government trample the Constitution. America is strong because our people have the rights to worship as they see fit, speak freely and back up our rights with the freedom to bear arms.

Gun control is really people control and that is what socialism is all about. Once you give up your guns, government can and will run every part of your life. Put a rock in your pocket and remind yourself of that.
