How Margaret Thatcher Won the Cold War

As we confront a hostile Russia today, the West is unsure what to do. For guidance, perhaps we should look back to the Soviet era, when we possessed a decidedly stronger sense of allied purpose.
In February 1984, Margaret Thatcher flew home from the Moscow funeral of the Soviet leader Yuri Andropov. Frustrated by his equally aged successor, Konstantin Chernenko, the British prime minister told her aides, “For heaven’s sake, try and find me a young Russian.”

Dems block Senate resolution honoring Thatcher

This is beyond petty. It is ignorant. A hold has been placed on a resolution honoring Margaret Thatcher in the Senate which, as Katherine Rosario explains, is an insult:

A Senate resolution to honor Lady Thatcher was supposed to pass last night. However, per well placed sources on the Hill, Democrats have a hold on the resolution.

To refuse to honor a woman of such great historical and political significance, who was deeply loyal to the United States, is petty and shameful. One truly has to wonder, what is it about Lady Thatcher that gives them pause? Her unfaltering commitment to freedom? Or perhaps the way she fought for individual liberty and limited government?

Rep. Stockman: ‘The best way to honor Baroness Thatcher is to crush liberalism’

Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman says the best way to honor the legacy former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is to “crush liberalism.”

“What are you doing this morning to defeat liberal politicians?” Stockman asked at the end of a statement released Monday morning by his office.
Thatcher, who died of a stroke Monday at age 87, was a conservative stalwart, fervent anti-communist and a close ally of President Ronald Reagan.
