Report: Immigrant population over 15% in record 16 states, over 25% in 6

One third of the nation's 50 states now have immigrant populations over 15 percent, with six over 25 percent, raising new questions about the country's ability to absorb the immigrant flood in schools and the job market, a new report on government immigration data said.

2nd Amendment Surge: Gun Sales, CCPs, and NRA Memberships Soar

It’s a trend bigger than Tickle Me Elmo, parachute pants, or the latest iPhone: all things Second Amendment are seeing a drastic spike in support.
The total number of FBI background checks for the month of November was a staggering 2,243,030 checks, one of the highest months on record, with the FBI reporting an unprecedented 185,345 gun background checks on Black Friday alone.

The Southwest border has broken open in recent weeks, with non-Mexicans — and illegal immigrant children in particular — crossing at a record rate in October, according to Border Patrol statistics that suggest the administration’s victory lap earlier this year was premature.

Scorned Christian Bakery Breaks Online Fundraising Record

Sweet Cakes by Melissa owners Aaron and Melissa Klein had the audacity to defend their religious beliefs two years ago, and they suffered mightily. When a lesbian couple, Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer, requested a cake from the Oregon-based Christian bakers for their wedding, the latter politely declined because doing so would violate the religious edicts they so strongly follow. The Kleins’ religiously motivated decision prompted the gay couple to sue, and the Oregon labor commissioner ruled that the Kleins would have to shell out $135,000 in damages. Thanks to Americans who still cherish religious freedom, however, it appears this Christian family will be more than able to pay that bill.

Price of Electricity Hit Record High in U.S. in 2014

Even as gasoline prices plummeted and the overall energy price index calculated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics declined, electricity prices bucked the trend in the United States in 2014.  Data released today by the BLS indicates that the electricity price indexes hit all-time highs for the month of December and for the year. 2014 was the most-expensive year ever for electricity in the United States.  The annual price index for electricity, published by BLS today, was 208.020. That was up from 200.750 in 2013.

Gallup: Record high fear 'big government'

A record number of Americans think that “big government” is the biggest threat to the country, according to a new poll.  The Gallup survey released on Wednesday showed that 72 percent of people say that “big government” is a bigger threat to the country than “big labor” or “big business.”  That’s the highest percentage of Americans who have expressed the preference since the pollster began asking the question in 1965.
