House Democrat hits Republicans for blocking attempt to strike ‘illegal alien’ from Library of Congress

A House Democrat criticized his Republican colleagues for blocking several of his Wednesday night attempts to stop the Library of Congress from using the term “illegal alien.” In a series of tweets Thursday, Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, blasted the House Rules Committee that voted down a series of amendments allowing the Library of Congress to refer to undocumented immigrants as “unauthorized noncitizens” rather than “illegal aliens.”

Deny Aid, Visas to Countries That Won’t Accept Deported Illegal Aliens

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said Thursday that “recalcitrant countries” that refuse to take criminal aliens that are being deported should not get federal aid from the U.S. and the U.S. should not give those countries more visas.

Illegal Alien Skips Court After Allegedly Smashing Toddler’s Limbs

Mexican national and previously-deported illegal alien Francisco Javier Chavez skipped a court appearance last week, after a California sheriff’s office released him. Chavez, accused of beating his live-in girlfriend’s two-year-old daughter so badly he broke both of her arms and her leg, was released from the San Luis Obispo County Jail on $100,000 bail.
Police arrested Chavez on July 30, then released him on July 31 — despite the severity of the latest allegations against him, his lengthy criminal record, and U.S. Immigration and Enforcement Customs’ request to detain him. He faces seven felony counts: Three counts for child abuse, and four counts for corporal injury to a child.
