Workers remove Ten Commandments monument from Oklahoma Capitol grounds

Workers began removing a Ten Commandments monument from the grounds of the Oklahoma Capitol late Monday in accordance with a court order.
The Daily Oklahoman reported that the six-foot high monument would be reinstalled outside the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, a conservative think tank.

Moore is a municipality that lies between Norman, where a dear friend of mine lives, and Oklahoma City, which I know reasonably well. I can't claim to know Moore other than to drive through, but I do remember the water tower emblazoned with "Moore - Home of Toby Keith". Can't get more American than that, can you?

Report: OK Beheading Suspect Tried to Convert Others to Islam

On Friday, Oklahoma City’s KFOR reported that the FBI is investigating claims that Alton Nolen, a man who beheaded one of his former co-workers before stabbing another had tried to convert others to Islam. According to KFOR, “the FBI is now looking into Nolen’s background after his former co-workers said he tried to convert them to Islam after recently converting himself.” The investigation is ongoing, and according to KFOR “it is not known if the suspect’s beliefs played a role in the attack.”  The station said that police are saying Nolen randomly attacked two employees in the front office of Vaughan Foods, which had recently fired him....
