NASA Study Concludes Global Warming Is Actually Slowing Sea Level Rise

A new NASA study concludes global warming increases the amount of water stored underground which, in turn, slows the rate of sea level rise. At a time when scientists are worried about accelerating sea level rise, NASA scientist John Reager and his colleagues found an extra 3,200 gigatons of water was being stored by parched landscapes from 2002 to 2014, slowing sea level rise by 15 percent.

NASA bans the word 'Jesus'

The name of Jesus is not welcome in the Johnson Space Center newsletter, according to a complaint filed on behalf of a group of Christians who work for NASA. The JSC Praise & Worship Club was directed by NASA attorneys to refrain from using the name 'Jesus' in club announcements that appeared in a Space Center newsletter.

How Global Warming Science Ate The NASA Budget

NASA’s obsession with global warming research is crowding out funding for planetary science and exploration, according to Lamar Smith, chairman of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.

Earth is Safe From 'Global Warming' Say the Men Who Put Man on the Moon

The planet is not in danger of catastrophic man made global warming. Even if we burn all the world's recoverable fossil fuels it will still only result in a temperature rise of less than 1.2 degrees C. So say The Right Climate Stuff Research Team, a group of retired NASA Apollo scientists and engineers - the men who put Neil Armstrong on the moon - in a new report.  "It's an embarrassment to those of us who put NASA's name on the map to have people like James Hansen popping off about global warming," says the project's leader Hal Doiron.

Forget global warming - it's Cycle 25 we need to worry about

‘World temperatures may end up a lot cooler than now for 50 years or more,’ said Henrik Svensmark, director of the Center for Sun-Climate Research at Denmark’s National Space Institute. ‘It will take a long battle to convince some climate scientists that the sun is important. It may well be that the sun is going to demonstrate this on its own, without the need for their help.’

Morrissey: Sky-high hole blown in AGW theory?

Two stories have dropped that may blow big holes in the anthropogenic global warming argument — one of which is literally sky-high. Forbes reports on a peer-reviewed study that uses NASA data to show that the effects of carbon-based warming have been significantly exaggerated. In fact, much of the heat goes out into space rather than stay trapped in the atmosphere, an outcome that started long before AGW alarmists predicted...

Bonn talks heat up, but where is the warming?

FORBES, 6/8/2011 by James M. Taylor (Heartland Institute) - Global greenhouse gas emissions have risen even faster during the past decade than predicted by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and other international agencies. According to alarmist groups, this proves global warming is much worse than previously feared. The increase in emissions “should shock even the most jaded negotiators” at international climate talks currently taking place in Bonn, Germany, the UK Guardian reports. But there’s only one problem with this storyline; global temperatures have not increased at all during the past decade. Read more at Forbes... Read More......

Asteroids, NASA and budget cuts

- BIG THINK, 9/10/2010 by Michio Kaku - Two Asteroids Buzzed the Earth This Week [9/5] --Should We Be Afraid?
- BIG THINK, 9/7-8/2010 by Michio Kaku - NASA Is Running Out of Money to Monitor Earth-Destroying Asteroids (Part 1 of 2) and (Part 2 of 2)

Plans for sending humans to visit an asteroid are heating up, with at least one company already scoping out the technological essentials for a deep space expedition within a decade, given the go-ahead. ∴ The asteroid space trek is seen as both scientifically valuable and as a dress rehearsal for a Mars mission, NASA officials have said. It could also hone ideas for planetary defense to guard Earth from a messy head-on clash with a space rock. ∴ Launching a manned asteroid mission by 2025 is NASA's new goal set by President Barack Obama, who announced the plan in April. The deep space mission would serve as a stepping stone to a crewed mission to Mars in the mid-2030s, he said. ∴ Lockheed Martin, which has been building NASA's Orion space capsule to replace the agency's retiring shuttle fleet, has already completed a study on how an asteroid mission might work. NASA doubts climate model certainty

WATTS UP WITH THAT, 4/27/2010 by Anthony Watts - Amazingly, this one is from NASA, citing doubt in the climate models that have become the mainstay of the AGW issue. This is from a NASA publication.
Global records of surface temperature over the last 100 years show a rise in global temperatures (about 0.5° C overall), but the rise is marked by periods when the temperature has dropped as well. If the models cannot explain these marked variations from the trend, then we cannot be completely certain that we can believe in their predictions of changes to come.

Start worrying about cooling

Letters to the Editor, Corvallis Gazette-Times, Dec. 7, 3008
George H. Taylor, renowned Oregon climatologist, has a cool head and excellent scientific understanding. Taylor consistently relies on facts, rather than political and emotional pressure, to keep Oregonians informed about variations in local and worldwide climate.

On Sunday, Nov. 23, the Sunday paper published Taylor’s column, “NASA error may have had huge influence,” exposing worldwide temperature reporting errors by NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies Director James Hansen.

It appears that, early on, Hansen jumped on the global warming bandwagon. Ego may have led him to repeatedly doctor statistics so that in 2008 it would appear that his predictions of global warming were right — the world is headed toward global warming catastrophe.

Actually, true statistics show that the highest worldwide temperatures of the century were in the 1930s and that 2008 had only the 70th warmest October in 114 years.

Both President-elect Obama and Oregon’s Gov. Kulongoski are on the global warming bandwagon.

But Oregon’s cyclic temperatures are falling and our snowpack last winter was above average. Maybe we should concern ourselves more with cooling, which would reduce our ability to produce enough food.
