According to the Corvallis Gazette-Times, "A proposed $25 million bond measure to build a new Benton County Jail was defeated Tuesday night, but backers vowed to revive the issue in a future election." The County website reported that the tally was 11,599 NO votes to 10,520 YES votes, thereby sending the bond measure (2-91) to construct a new jail into defeat.
