As widely expected, the Oregon Senate this week approved an extension of the state’s Clean Fuels Program on virtually a party-line vote — every Democrat except for Betsy Johnson voted for the program, and every Republican voted against it.
The measure, Senate Bill 324, now goes to the House of Representatives. The House should kill it, although that outcome seems like a long shot. There were plenty of reasons before to gracefully allow the Clean Fuels Program to expire, as scheduled, at the end of this year.
And now, in the wake of the ethics charges that forced Gov. John Kitzhaber to resign, there’s one more.
